When I post you will get it fast! Gavin and Dale Proctor teamed up to crank in four hundred feet of line to land this 27 plus pound Chinook. Great job guys!! This fish was taken on a Vulcan Magnum Silver Lizard spoon.
The lake is finally warming up and action on all species is heating up. If you have been waiting for fishing to improve now is the time to hit the water
How Coho
Coho are coming in 105 feet of water 55 down. Eight inch coyotes in green with Howie aqua flies have been the best with some action on small size spoons. Reapers and Vulcans made by http://www.badgertackle.com have been working for us. The small silver Vulcan has been working on the 300 copper. Coho are down as the water has warmed to 73 degrees on top. Water temperature varies from one area to another it pays to turn and go back over productive spots. Tie your flies 24.5 inches on 8 inch flashers. I hope this helps.
How Chinooks
Chinook are taking flies and also magnum spoons. Wire divers set to 1.5 with 100 feet of line out have been the most consistent. Chinook are coming in 105 feet of water 55 down. I use the Depth Raider to measure speed at the ball. The boat speed of 1.9 to 2.2 has been best.
How Lakers
For Lake Trout magnum Reaper glow spoons presented within inches of the bottom will bring in some hogs with the most running 5-8 pounds. A size 0 dodger and Spin N Glow may be needed on some days.
Where!
Fish are marking from 80 feet and all the way out north or south of Milwaukee to 140 feet. Have a great fishing season. Let’s go fishing!

Fishing Hot No Change in Milwaukee
Surface temperature is up to 55 degrees and the fish are 30 feet to bottom. The weather has been perfect fishing has been consistent. Heavy coolers the last four days with mostly Chinooks and Coho. Chinook to 18 pounds are screaming line and all are enjoying some great action. Fish from 60 to 125 feet of water anywhere east of Milwaukee. The hot bait was the Magnum size Reaper Fish n Chip spoons made by http://www.badgertackle.com We also had action on orange flashers and flies. Ron Von Haden caught this 15 pound 2oz Lake trout on a Reaper Spoon.
How!
Our best presentations are 8 color Cortland lead core and downriggers 30 to 65 down or five feet off the bottom. Fish have been on regular and magnum spoons in a blue and silver or green and silver pattern. The Vulcan Magnum or Reaper Magnum spoons by Badger Tackle have caught most of our fish. Six inch orange dodgers and Johnnie Peanut Flies are also doing a good job on Coho. Our best boat speed is 2.0 to 2.1 mph on the Depth Raider. Slide Divers are producing very well set to #1.5 with 50 to 85 feet of line out with the ring.

Head north south or due east compass bearing and set up in 65 feet of water. Out in front of the water filtration plant is a good option for small boat anglers the fish seem to be closer to shore in that location. Specialize your tackle for fishing in Milwaukee!
Grand slam is a normal catch with all species available. You must fish top to bottom to put numbers in the box. Most normal years pounding the big Chinooks was the way to go but to this point fishing has been far from normal. Coho action has slowed but hard work on the water will produce. Everyone likes big fish and Clayton Robinson after a long battle boated this 19 pound 2 ounce Chinook. Magnum spoons are a good bet for the big fish. Surface water has warmed to 68 degrees and most of the action is 15 to the bottom. How
Top to bottom presentation is answer with fish scattered and a lot of good water available. I run a mix of all size spoons on boards, divers and downriggers. Throw in a flasher fly and keep moving till you find action. On the high board lines regular Vulcan spoons in silver, silver blue and silver green is the best for Brown Trout. Coho will hit all size spoons from 30 to 55 down off downriggers fifty to one hundred feet behind the ball. Some Rainbows hitting at the same depth or a little higher. When you can find them the Reaper Magnum Big Joe on a SWR has been the best for Chinooks. Looking for Reapers and Vulcans made by http://www.badgertackle.com you may only order them online. Try them their shipping is cheap and they arrive fast. It hasn’t been a easy bite but changing presentations and depths will offer rewards. 225 copper behind a Church Walleye Board is one of our best presentations. Three, six, eight and ten color leadcores are also working. Wire divers have replaced the braid divers set to #2 with 120-150 feet if line out. Silver spoons have taken Rainbows to twelve pounds the last several days. A little faster speed about 2.5 is required for Rainbows. I use the Depth Raider to measure speed at the ball. The boat speed of 1.9 to 2.2 has been best. Don’t forget the Lake Trout near the bottom magnum Reaper glow spoons SLOW, SLOW, SLOW 1.5 or less will net Poor Mans Lobster. Currents are crazy out there if your not catching fish change directions and speed.

Consistent and productive fishing in Milwaukee!
Coho are the majority of the catch with some Chinook salmon to 19 pounds like this 16 pound 12 ounce King caught by Bill Smith. Bill caught his trophy on a Reaper Magnum Peacock spoon. Surface water has warmed to 65 degrees and most of the action is 45 to 65 down in the 48 degree water. Magnum spoons are working on the leadcores. Milwaukee Salmon Fishing Heats Up!
Coho, Chinooks and Rainbow make up the majority of the catch with an occasional Lake Trout. Surface water has warmed to 58 degrees and most of the action is 25 to 50 down in the 48 degree water. Coho are coming on all size spoons. Reapers and Vulcans made by http://www.badgertackle.com have been working for us. The small Reaper Peacock and Fish n Chip has been hot on the lead cores. Six inch flashers or dodgers with green or blue Johnnie peanut flies must be part of your presentation for Coho. A hot presentation for us was a size O orange dodger with a 21.5 inch lead to a medium size blue fly. Coho are in the top 35 feet and Chinooks are 30 to 45 down. Steady action on Slide Divers set to #3 no ring and 55 feet of line out. Run 4 and 5 color Cortland lead core and downriggers 12 to 48 feet down. Speed has been very critical with the 47 degree water. I use the Depth Raider to measure speed at the ball. The big Chinook are hitting on Reaper Magnum Glow spoons. The boat speed of 1.9 to 2.2 has been best. Tie your flies 14.5 inches on 6 inch dodgers, 12 inches for 6 inch flashers. All orange dodgers and flashers. I hope this helps.

Fish are from the harbor break wall and all the way out north of Milwaukee to 120 feet. It can be a zoo in close with all the traffic and it may be better to head out the north gap Milwaukee 70 degrees and fish northeast out to 70 to 100 feet of water. Have a great fishing season. Early Coho! Early Coho! Early Spring Coho!
We had two charter trips this weekend with great action both time periods. In the morning we had good numbers on Coho, one twelve pound Lake Trout and a small Brown Trout. Afternoon was even better with sixteen fish total. Mostly Coho both charters with a nice eleven pound Chinook in the afternoon. April fishing remains very good when you can get out. The weather has created some problems with presentation and access to the best fishing areas. Our best presentations are 2,3,4,and 5 color Cortland lead core and downriggers 12 to 45 feet down. The fish have been on regular and magnum spoons. The Reaper Magnum and regular Peacock Silver spoon by Badger Tackle have caught most of our fish. Six inch orange dodgers and Johnnie Peanut Flies are also doing a good job. Head northeast out the north gap Milwaukee and fish north in 45 to 70 feet of water. Water color may be an issue if it is cloudy move in and out of the cloudy water for the best action. The color break is holding most of the fish.

Milwaukee Fishing Salmon Reports August 23rd 2010

Widely scattered is the best way to describe recent action for salmon and trout Milwaukee. You must present tackle for all species from the top ten feet of water to the bottom in all depths you fish. A nice mixed bag will be your reward. On the high lines (2,3, and 4 color lead core) the Vulcan regular size Dolphin Green Silver is picking up Rainbow Trout. Mid way down the water column in a temperature of 50 degrees use Magnum Reaper spoons in silver with green or blue green accent stripes. The Magnum Peacock and Fish n Chip have been my go to spoons on a SWR. As usual temperature is the key. The Magnum Peacock and Fish n Chip have been my go to spoon for my 5, 6, 8 and 10 color lead cores. Downriggers are also producing with the same spoons and some flasher flies. The best depths for downriggers have been 45, 60, 70 and 100 feet. The fish are in depths of 60 to 170 feet of water. Lake Trout are always available near the bottom even on the slower days when you slow the boat down to 1.5 MPH measured at the ball with the Depth Raider. The Depth Raider is an essential part of your tools for trolling with the current we have on Lake Michigan. Speed up to 2.1 when working the Kings Let me tell you where and what to use. Travel northeast out of the North Gap about 4 miles at a 45 degrees compass for the cold water that holds the fish. Look for fish from 10 to 100 down on all presentations. Slide Divers with 110 feet of line out are also working with magnum Reaper Peacock or Fish n Chip spoons. Glow spoons have also been working all day long in the magnum size like the Reaper Fish Fry.

April fishing is very good. Most of our charter trips are catching limits on Lake Trout with a few Browns. Clear skies with the wind out of the west at 15-25 mph have been the norm. The water flowing into Milwaukee harbor is 58 degrees. We have been fishing the temp breaks in front of the river mouth and harbor gaps and north of Milwaukee in 35 to 50 feet of water. Lots of bait fish around. Our best presentations are 3,4,5,and 6 color Cortland lead core and downriggers 20 to 35 feet down. The fish have been mostly been on magnum spoons. The Reaper Magnum Peacock Silver spoon by Badger Tackle have caught most of our fish sold athttp://www.badgertackle.com Michigan Stinger Jawbreaker and most of their silver orange spoons are also working for browns. Depending on wind direction the north and south gaps are producing fish. Our bigger Chinooks have been caught at the north gap. The fish at the north gap came on small Vulcan spoons. Silver blue spoons worked best for us running 60 feet behind the ball on downriggers 8-15 feet down. Our best boat speed was 2.4 mph.
