Coho Are Still King Out Of Milwaukee

Coho Are Still King Out Of Milwaukee

By Milwaukee Wisconsin fishing charter Capt. Jim Hirt
The lake is warming and a thermo cline is setting up. The surface action has slowed and the temperature break is at 35 feet to 50 degrees. Rainbow Trout action has been best in the warmer water just above the break in sizes of 4 to 14 pounds.

All our action on Rainbows has been on Reaper Magnum Fish N Chip Silver spoons presented on 5 color leadcore or Slide Divers with 60 foot leads set to #1 with 35 feet of line out. 80 to 120 feet of water has been best with depths of 100 to 150 feet later in the day.

We have had some issues with wind and waves the last week and I had to cancel some trips. However when we could get out to the deeper 70-150 water action has been great.

Chinooks Coho are at or below the break from 20 to 45 feet down. We are still getting Coho on 6-inch flashers or OO dodgers with Howie peanut, small hair cut or Mylar flies tied 12 inches long. The Coho are steady with green or blue flies.

Reaper Magnum Fish N Chip, Peacock and Vulcan Magnum Silver Lizard, Silver Sky spoons on the downriggers are taking Lake Trout 8 to 15 pounds 45 to 65 down eighty feet behind the ball. The only place you will find Reaper and Vulcan spoons is on their web site at http://www.badgertackle.com The wind has brought the temperatures near shore is up to 61 degrees on the surface and that action in has slowed. Start your trip in 70 feet of water and fish out to deeper water. Look for 52-degree or colder water. Our best presentations are planer boards with 4, 5, 8, or 10 color lead core and downriggers 30 to 65 feet down. Slide Divers are also producing set to #3 with 40 feet of line out. Our best speed was 1.7 to 2.0 mph. Have a great fishing season. Let’s go fishing!! Jim charters out of Milwaukee, WI. with Blue Max Charters. Milwaukee Salmon, Twenty Pound Naturals!

By Milwaukee Wisconsin fishing charter Capt. Jim Hirt
Coho and Chinook Report 6/26/2016! Join us in Milwaukee! Master Evan Krull after a long battle landed this natural 24 pound 12 ounce Chinook. We had a ball almost a grand slam. Brown Trout was the only fish that was missing. To get my fish reports and how to videos first go to http://www.jimhirt.com By subscribing you will keep ahead of the other anglers. When I post you will get it fast!

How
Mixed bag all week. Very consistent, lots of fun. Chinooks and Coho have dominated the catch and lots of Rainbows too. Chinooks went for Magnum Reaper Fish n Chip spoons in chartreuse /silver. We had several over twenty pounds this week. White or green Howie’s flies also working well run behind a white flasher. The big Chinooks are active 90 down on downriggers. Reapers and Vulcans made by http://www.badgertackle.com have been working for us. They have a Buy Four get one free special this season. The small silver Vulcan in green or blue has also been good on the downriggers. Run them 75 feet behind the ball 55 feet down to the bottom. Coho have been on standard size Howie flies. Running all wire divers now with a 1.5 set at 125 feet of line out.

Lake Trout action picking up they were hitting the Chinook tackle.

Brown Trout action was just ok on 2 color lead core with small spoons. One here and there on the Vulcan Silver Sky.

Rainbow Trout were hitting Vulcan Dolphin Green and Silver spoons in the top 15 feet. Three and four color leadcore best.

Speed
For all fish speed has been very critical with the warmer 65 degree water. The temp break to 53 is down 50 feet. I use the Depth Raider to measure speed and temp at the ball. The boat speed of 2.0 to 2.2 has been best. The faster speed triggered the Chinook action.

Where!
I fished mostly out over 80 feet again. East wind has pushed the warmer water in. Fish 80 to 200 feet. Near shore action on McKinley pier has been very slow with only a few Browns being caught. We did not get out over 120 feet of water yesterday. Head 55 degrees north in Whitefish Bay and set lines in 80 feet. Troll north east have a great fishing season. Let’s go fishing! Note We are offering an extra hour for $35 when added to a five hour fishing charter. Jim charters out of Milwaukee, WI. with Blue Max Charters. Milwaukee Fishing Lake Michigan Salmon Report 6/14//2015

Milwaukee Fishing Lake Michigan Salmon Report 6/14//2015
By Milwaukee Wisconsin fishing charter Captain Jim Hirt
Chinooks and Coho are in! Fishing Milwaukee!
Out all weekend a 50/50 split on Coho and Chinooks. Badger Tackle Reaper or Vulcan spoons getting it done in the regular or magnum size. To get my fish reports and how to videos first go to http://www.jimhirt.com By subscribing you will keep ahead of the other anglers. When I post you will get it fast by e-mail!
How Chinook
My first choice is first light with glow spoons. The spoons are best when run 100 feet behind the downrigger ball and 25 feet down. Three, four, five color Lead Core are also taking Chinooks. Chinooks being taken in 65 to 100 feet of water anywhere out of Milwaukee. The only place you will find Reaper and Vulcan spoons is on my web site at http://www.badgertackle.com
How Lake Trout
Action for Lakers has been steady for fish in the cooler. Try long lead spoons and SWR rigs 45 to 60 feet down. Lead cores are also a good choice. Best action has been in 75 feet.
How Coho
Get out the flashers with Howie peanut flies. Some scattered reports of Coho being caught on spoons as well. The surface is 53 degrees and the Silvers are 15 feet down to the surface in 40 to 100 feet of water. Our average has been 10 to 12 per trip.
Rainbow Trout
If you have time and good lake conditions try 250 feet of water for good action on Rainbows. Vulcan OL Sherbet Orange spoons on 2,3,4, color lead core best.
Where!
Fish are north or south of Milwaukee. Fish the entire water column in 20 to 100 feet of water for the best action. Our best speed was 2.0 to 2.2 mph measured at the ball with the Depth Raider.
Have a great fishing season. Jim charters out of Milwaukee, WI. with Blue Max Charters. He can be reached at 414-828-1094 or visit his web site at http://www.bluemaxcharters.com Copyright© 2015, James J. Hirt, All Rights Reserved.

Scattered fishing in Milwaukee!
Catch the buzz from the cleaning station and get full detailed fishing info. To get my fish reports and how to videos first go to http://www.jimhirt.com By subscribing you will keep ahead of the other anglers. When I post you will get it fast by e-mail!
How Coho
The foggy days continued this week. This has kept many anglers off the lake. When we can get out we caught Coho in the top 25 feet on 6-inch flashers or OO dodgers with Howie peanut, flies tied 14-16 inches long. The Coho are not all that picky on color most green or blue Howie flies will work. It’s a mixed bag for most anglers. Our best presentation is Side Divers or 2,3,4, and 6 color lead core.
How Chinook
Chinook are coming on Vulcan Silver spoons run long behind the downrigger ball or on SWR rigs 40 feet to the bottom. Reaper Magnum and Vulcan Magnum spoons in blue/green or silver/ green on the long lead cores are also taking Chinooks and Lake Trout 8 to 15 pounds. The only place you will find Reaper and Vulcan spoons is on their web site at http://www.badgertackle.com
Where!
Water temperatures near shore warmed to 55 degrees on the surface and Coho fishing was good in 50 to 60 feet of water. Start your trip in close to shore for Coho and go to 80-150 feet of water for Chins and Lake Trout. Fish the entire water column for the best action. Anglers are finding Chinook action north of Milwaukee in Whitefish Bay. Our best speed was 1.7 to 2.0 mph measured at the ball with the Depth Raider.
Have a great fishing season. Let’s go fishing! Note All alone we put together groups at $125 per person. Jim charters out of Milwaukee, WI. with Blue Max Charters. Milwaukee Fishing Lake Michigan Salmon Report 5/15/14

Milwaukee Fishing Lake Michigan Salmon Report 5/15/14

Coho Start The Season in Milwaukee!
Had fantastic action on Coho Salmon. To get my fish reports and how to videos first go to http://www.jimhirt.com By subscribing you will keep ahead of the other anglers. When I post you will get it fast!

How
Coho are coming on small size spoons. Reapers and Vulcans made by http://www.badgertackle.com have been working for us. The small silver Vulcan has been hot on the lead cores. Six inch flashers or dodgers with green or blue Howies peanut flies must be part of your presentation for Coho. A hot presentation for us was a size O orange dodger with a 15.5 inch lead to a medium size blue fly. Coho are in the top 25 feet. Steady action on Slide Divers set to #3 no ring and 25 feet of line out. Run all boards with 3/8 ounce keel sinkers. Our fish have been very high in the water column. Speed is very critical with the 46 degree water. I use the Depth Raider to measure speed at the ball. For spoons use the regular size Silver Vulcan. No Chinook yet as we are targeting Coho. The boat speed of 1.9 to 2.2 has been best. Tie your flies 14.5 to 16 inches on 6 inch dodgers, 24 inches for 6 inch flashers. All orange dodgers and flashers. I hope this helps.

Where!
Fish are sucked up to the break wall and shore line. It can be a zoo in close with all the traffic and it may be better to fish the shore line south of Milwaukee. Have a great fishing season. Let’s go fishing! Note All alone we put together groups at $125 per person. Jim charters out of Milwaukee, WI. with Blue Max Charters. Lakers a plenty with some Coho and Chinook too. To get my fish reports and how to videos first go to http://www.jimhirt.com By subscribing you will keep ahead of the other anglers. When I post you will get it fast! Alyssa Bryant brought her beautiful family out fishing and after a hard fight landed this 17 plus pound Chinook. Great job Alyssa!!

How Coho
Coho are coming in 105 feet of water 75 down. Eight inch coyotes in green with Howie aqua flies have been the best with some action on small size spoons. Reapers and Vulcans made by http://www.badgertackle.com have been working for us. The small silver Vulcan has been working on the 300 copper. Coho are down as the water has warmed to 66 degrees on top. Water temperature varies from one area to another it pays to turn and go back over productive spots. Tie your flies 24.5 inches on 8 inch flashers. I hope this helps.

How Chinooks
Chinook are taking flies and also magnum spoons. Wire divers set to 1.5 with 100 feet of line out have been the most consistent. Chinook are coming in 105 feet of water 55 down I use the Depth Raider to measure speed at the ball. The boat speed of 1.9 to 2.2 has been best.

How Lakers
For Lake Trout magnum Reaper glow spoons presented within inches of the bottom will bring in some hogs with the most running 5-8 pounds. A size 0 dodger and Spin N Glow may be needed on some days.

Where!

Fish are marking from 80 feet and all the way out north or south of Milwaukee to 140 feet. Have a great fishing season. Let’s go fishing!
